There are 2 options you need to consider: 1) If you have nasal airway obstruction then you should consider septoplasty or submucoasal resection of nasal septum. 2) If you have deviated nasal septum associated with deviated nasal bridge then you should consider septorhinoplasty. Q. Im 18 years old and unhappy with the size of my nose. I feel its to large in comparrison to the rest of my face but im concerned in having surgery at such an early age. I cant imagine waiting will make any difference. Have you treated people of my age before?,

 

A. Hi – yes I’ve treated people who are relatively young with rhinoplasty surgery. You’re right in that the nose continues to grow and in fact it never stops growing. If you look at someone who is elderly, then they have longer noses than they had when they were younger in their 20s and 30s. So, yes, we can do rhinoplasty on someone who is in their late teens.

Q. My nose kind of leans to one side. Its not particularly a severe lean but I notice it more when I see pictures of myself. What treatment would I need to have to reshape the nose so it was straight and can you also advise me of approximate costs if you can. Cheers,

 

A. Thank you for your inquiry. It depends to a great extent on the shape of the nasal septum, which is the partition between the nostrils. If the septum is overall straight, there can be an asymmetry of the tip of the nose which is more readily correctable with limited surgery. Otherwise, I would advocate an open tip septorhinoplasty to achieve the correction. A. Hi there. Only a very minor rhinoplasty can be performed using local anaesthetic, and the vast majority of primary rhinoplasties are performed under GA. I’ve performed a small number of minor revisions under local anaesthetic but I don’t really recommend any common primary rhinoplasty to be performed under local anaesthetic

Q. My right nostril is larger than my left and I would like them made the same size. Can my nostrils made symmetrical?,

 

A. Thank you for your inquiry. Perfect symmetry between the 2 halves of our body is never possible to achieve, because every component is different. Depending on the degree of and reason for the asymmetry, it is possible to improve both asymmetries in terms of the position of the nostril rim, direction of the columella which contributes to asymmetry, and width of the nostrils.
