Q. Im looking at rhinoplasty to correct a wide nasal bridge and have been told this will be done with osteotomies. Is this something you have any experience with in the past please?,

Q. I am looking at having revision surgery and have consulted with 2 surgeons so far. As far as the 2 surgeons go they were ok but their fees were overly cheap, which concerns me. I know I should not choose a surgeon based on their fees but im not exactly flushed at the moment either. The revison surgery I need is just on the nose tip and I wanted to know where I can view any previous work and your prices plase.,

 

A. Revision rhinoplasty surgery is very unique, so although I can show you pictures of some of my patients who have had rhinoplasties before, I probably don’t have a picture of a revision that would be similar to your nose. Nevertheless I can show you examples of some of my work but beyond that, if you’re looking for a particular outcome or several before and after photos for me to show you, that may not be possible. For revision work, it’s a lot harder to do, as well, as there’s more scarring and a greater degree of unpredictability in the final results. Q. Dear Sir. I would like to make a couple of small changes to my nose around the bridge and tip. I feel nmy nose is also slightly crooked although everyone tells me it is not. Can you tell me about finesse rhinoplasty? Does this require a specialist surgeon to do this?,

 

A. I’m afraid I don’t do minor changes to a nose, because the swelling and bruising after a rhinoplasty completely negate any subtle changes performed intraoperatively, and we still see the final results of a rhinoplasty after a year, no matter whether it’s a mini rhinoplasty or a complex rhinoplasty. That’s not to say we don’t perform precision, accurate and small procedures in a rhinoplasty, it’s just that many people associate mini procedures with minimal recovery times, and that’s simply not the case with work on multiple areas. I get the impression that what you you want isn’t a mini rhinoplasty; what you want is small changes but in many areas of the nose, and people who have changes to many areas of the nose have a lot of bruising and swelling after surgery because we’re operating on many areas.

Q. I am a police officer and would like Rhinoplasty. The most time i could get off work for recovery is 3 weeks. Due to the nature of my job it is possible that my nose would get knocked or that i would have to physically exert myself on returing to work. What would be the risks of this?,

 

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry. It is possible to perform a rhinoplasty procedure and have you back to work within 3 weeks. Normally, the supportive plaster on your nose will be in place for a week following the surgery and in the following 2 weeks, the swelling and bruising would be mostly settled. It would be important to protect your nose while it is still relatively fragile from any trauma. It is possible that if you did sustain a blow to your nose within a few months of that surgery, the effects of the surgery could be altered. I wonder if will be possible for you to return to slightly lighter duties for a month or so once you return to work.
