Q. Hello. I have had two previous rhinoplasties and have been looking into having a third, due to an uneven tip with uneven nostrils and a few irregularities in my bridge. I have heard about the non-surgical nose job and am very interested. I understand it can be used for bridge irregularities, such as filling in dents. I am very excited about this, as I worry about having a third rhinoplasty. Can the nostril rims be lowered also, as one of my rims is higher causing asymmetry. Do you offer this procedure, and is it something you are experienced in, as I would love yo book an appointment if you are. Many thanks,

A. hi there. I often do filler rhinoplasties especially when I’m concerned that a third (or more) time rhinoplasty will lead to more side effects and complications than I am willing to risk. So, for people who either wish to have some minor irregularity sorted out or who have a wish to increase some areas of the nose it certainly is possible to have a non surgical rhinoplasty. I have had successes with this, and I can show you some of the results at a consultation if you would like to proceed with one. You can call my clinic on 01415520828 if you want to book a consultation and I look forward to seeing you soon.

I recently had open rhinoplasty at Bumrungrad Hospital

Q. I recently had open rhinoplasty at Bumrungrad Hospital in Thailand (after taking another knock to my nose while at work). As I was working in Thailand for another 3 weeks my company decided it would be best to have the surgery out there. What I was wanting clarification on is how long before the swelling will go down to an ‘un-noticeable’ level. How long before I can start physical training. Is there any diet or other ways of speeding up recovery? I would really appreciate your advice on these matters. Look forward to hearing from you. Best Regards
A. Thank you very much for your email about your rhinoplasty. Generally, swelling does take at least a month to settle down and after that time there will be some residue swelling left which should have gone by 3 months. I generally recommend that you do not start physical training for at least 3-4 weeks following their operation and there after begin it really quite slowly until to that previous levels. Other than that I think keeping your head up to reduce swelling to the area, I think there’s little you can do to help resolve the swelling as this will does take time. I wish you the best of luck and I hope the swelling does settle down soon. Best Wishes, Prashant Govilkar Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora-Clinics

Q. Hi Mr Govilkar, Im not sure if you will remember me you done my Abdominoplasty in June 2008 at St Barts Hospital. I have been trying to find you for a while now as the surgery you done on me was brilliant but i have got one of the side affects which you said i might get on my sides which is the fatty handles an i have been trying to get these sorted for about 2 years now but no-one seems interested in helping me. I will look forward from hearing you. Hope you have been well over the years. Natasha,

A. Dear Natasha, Thank you very much for your email, I’m glad you were so pleased with the results of the surgery to your tummy. It is possible to remove the excess tissue from the sides by further excision and this could certainly be performed. I think the sensible thing to do would be to schedule an appointment to see me for consultation and you can do this by ringing 01844-214362. If you ask for an appointment in my clinic we’ll be delighted to see you and advise you the best way forward. Many thanks for getting back in contact, look forward to meeting you soon. Hi, I am 16 years old and 2 years ago I was injured

Q. Hi, I am 16 years old and 2 years ago I was injured playing hockey, the hockey ball was hit into my face and my nose was completely smashed. I had emergency rhino and septa plastic surgery twice, done by my the local hospital. I am left with a 2 inch scar on the bridge of my nose and I recently has an operation to allow me to breathe. That operation failed and despite the two prior operations, I am left with a visible lump on my now wonky nose and one side of the ridge of my nose it higher than the other and sharp to touch. I had a nice, straight nose before, can this ever be restored?Thank you.,

A. Thank you very much for your email, it sounds as if it may be possible to improve the appearance of your nose but it does get more difficult with the nose surgery you have due to increased scar tissue in the region. I think you do need to see a specialist rhinoplasty surgeon who could discuss the options with you which may involve remodeling the shape slightly and also improving the scar. If you would like to schedule a free consultation please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Best Wishes, Prashant Govilkar Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora-Clinics

Hi Dr Taimur, I had rhinoplast over four years ago

Q. Hi Dr Taimur, I had rhinoplast over four years ago, and the surgeon ended up giving me a deviated septum and my right nostril was blocked so i was only breathing through one nostril, i then moved to to singapore to wokr and had a second operation by dr Martin Hwang, i have been so upset with thre results as he has made my nose so small it does not suit my face, i only wanted my nose straightened which he did achieve but went over board on other areas.. i am so desperate to make my nose look like it did before (prior to any surgery) will you be able to help?,

A. Hi there. If you want to have a nose that’s bigger, then sometimes you have two options. You can have another operation where we augment the nose structure or you can have fillers in the nose. If you would like to see a couple of examples of filler rhinoplasties then please do book a consultation to see me (by calling 01415520828) and we can talk about your options. I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing you.

I have been wanting rhinoplasty for a long time now

Q. Hi there Mr Taimur Shoaib, I have been wanting rhinoplasty for a long time now and i am starting to explore surgeons etc, i have been asked for a gp referal from a few i have been to my gp who says they will give me referall just to contact them! Basically i have a hump from the side, my nose is also bent to one side from the front and has a bulbous tip on one side and flat on the other, i also have other problems with my nose, breathing difficulties, feeling of drowning and filling up with blood, tension headaches and pressure on the bridge so i am thinking maybe a septorhinoplasty may help. When i went to my gp she could see my nose was bent and said this may be causing headaches etc she provided me a prescription for nasal spray i have only used a few days so unsure if will help as yet! I do not have funds for this procedure yet so obviously i wont be having it done straight away but as soon as i manage to get them i will be. So if you could please provide me with a guide orice also. Many Thanks Laura I can e-mail you photos also if needed. Thanks again,

A. Hi Laura. Thanks for your enquiry. My current prices for rhinoplasty can be found by calling 01415520828, and you can also call that number to book in for a consultation to see me when you are ready to proceed. Although you may need a septorhinoplasty, unless your nose is a complex secondary revision septorhinoplasty procedure, the chances are I could treat your nose for the fixed price of a standard rhinoplasty rather than the fixed price I have for a septorhinoplasty. There are some things I can do and there are some things I cannot do – for example, I don’t think I can take away the feeling of drowning or the feeling of filling up with blood. Equally, I don’t think I can improve upon tension headaches and pressure on the bridge, so you have to be aware of the limitations of the procedure before you embark upon it. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things by exploring surgeons and, as I say, let me know if you would like to have a consultation with me and my staff can arrange that for you. Kind regards.
