Q. hi, i am 15 years old, soon turning 16 and i was wondering if there is a specific age in which you can have open rhinoplasty. i am really unhappy with the size of my nose and would like to change it before i go to college. thank you,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, generally we do wait until you are at least 18 to perform a nose correction surgery as this is the age when your nose has stopped growing. Surgery before this age generally not recommended as it can damage the growth areas to your nose. I think it would generally be worth waiting until you are 18 and then scheduling a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you. When i was 2yrs old i was hit in the face by a swingball

Q. When i was 2yrs old i was hit in the face by a swingball that split my lip…as ive got older the scar from my lip to inside my nostril has cause my nose to deviate. Also on the right side of my nose where the scar is i can see that my face is somewhat caved in where the right nostril lays. I have seen a cosmetic surgeon and he said he wouldnt go near it as it would only go back to its origional position over time….im devistated. I love my left side profile but i look like another person from the right…..can anything be done….can supply pics if needed :o (,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m sorry you’re so unhappy about the appearance of your nose and it does sound as if a nose specialist could help you in correcting the problem. I think it might be worthwhile scheduling an appointment to see one of our specialist nose surgeons and you can do this by ringing 01844-214362 or emailing us at infoaurora-clinics.co.uk. Many thanks for your enquiry, we do look forward to meeting you in the near future if you do decide to schedule a consultation. Q. hello Mr Prashant Govikar. I am a 18 year old male and i want to have a otoplasty and rhinoplasty at one time! is this possible? or do i have to wait a couple of weeks to do the other procedure also how long is a otoplasty recovery? what are the side afeects Thanks!,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it’s certainly is possible to perform joint ear and nose operations at the same time and this is actually quite a combination of procedures. I think it would be worthwhile having a look at our website http://www.aurora-clinics.co.uk and visit the ear and nose section. If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation discussing the best way forward for you please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Hi there, I had Septorhinoplasty 2weeks ago, nose

Q. Hi there, I had Septorhinoplasty 2weeks ago, nose looks great and breathing also, I’m really concerned at mo as tooth exsposure has disappeared whilst speaking, upper lip seems to have dropped! Smiling is also very difficult! Would really appreciate your advice or opinion on issue? Many thanks , ben! Email may be all lower case, sorry,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m sorry that you are unhappy with the appearance of your upper lip following your rhinoplasty. It’s unusual for the lip to change following this procedure, I think it would be sensible to go back to your original surgeon and discuss this fully with them. They will have the best idea of the exact details of what is involved in the procedure and I think would be the best people to advise you on how it may be best resolved. I wish you the best of luck with this consultation if you feel that you have not had an adequate explanation from your original surgeon please feel free to contact us on 01844-214362 or email at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk to arrange this consultation with one of our specialist rhinoplasty surgeons who’ll be able to advise you as to the best way forward. i recently broke me nose at a concert and i wondered

Q. i recently broke me nose at a concert and i wondered how long after the surgery can i swim in the sea? and will i have to wear a peg or a bandage?,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m sorry that you broke your nose during the concert. Generally, if you break your nose it will take a few weeks for your bones to settle but gentle activities such as swimming should not be too much of a problem after 3-4 weeks. You should however trying avoid any further damaged to your nose for at least 2 months after your injury as the bones will still be relatively fragile at this stage. If after 6-8 months the nose is at all misshapen it may be worthwhile considering an appointment with one of our specialist surgeons to discuss how this can be fixed. If you would like to schedule a consultation please ring us on 01844-214362 or email us at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk. when i was 4 years old i got a dice (a small one)

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery,Experts,Mr Prashant Govilkar — admin @ 8:57 am
Q. hello doctor, when i was 4 years old i got a dice (a small one) up my nose. I went to the emergency department but they got it out with great difficulty! it left a bent side. also when i was 12 my brother hit my nose with great force. it left a hump on the bridge. ALSO now that i am 13 i got elbowed in the noise yesterday. it makes me not breath propley. i am not sure to get a rhinoplasty considering my age. (13) today i am going to my GP to dignose the problem. i hope you can help in a way. like giving me advice. also it feels brushed and swolen also deformed Thank you for help!,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it does sound as if you may need some surgery to your nose in the future. If you’ve recently been elbowed in the nose I think it would be worthwhile going to your local GP to assess the area as it maybe that you may need nose restraightening at this stage. Otherwise, we normally wait as your nose is developing at the age of 18 before considering rhinoplasty surgery. This is because the surgery to the nose can damage the growing areas. If you’d like more information about rhinoplasty please visit our website http://www.aurora-clinics.co.uk where you find lots of information about the procedure. Q. Hello, I was born with large sticky out ears,i had fun made of me growing up but grew to like them, then at the age of 22 i lost my hair to herditary hairloss…i also damaged my nose as a child and in my late teens it grew REALY bulbous and it seems to get blocked on the right side and i talk like i have a cold a lot….with my hairloss at age 22 it made my nose and ears stand out much much more than before and people started to poke fun at me again and i started to hate them…i started to have panic attacks depression and developed social anxiety….now 30 i REALY want somthing done…im not living a normal life because of my nose and ears…would it be possible to have them corrected on the NHS…and what would be the waiting time roughly? Thank you very much for your time.,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it does sound as if you may benefit from having your ears sent back slightly. The surgery is sometimes possible on the NHS and I think it would be worthwhile scheduling a consultation with your GP who can discuss this with you. In some areas due to government rationing of procedures this correction of prominent ears isn’t available on the NHS and if this is the case the other option would be to pay for the procedure. If you would like more information about prominent ear correction please do so by visiting our website http://www.aurora-clinics.co.uk and if you feel you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Filed under: Experts,Mr Prashant Govilkar,Rhinoplasty — admin @ 8:56 am
Q. I have a bump in the middle of my nose which make my nose look really big is their any way a surgeon can break it to make it straight at the age of 14 acknowleging the fact i have my parents permission.I would just like to know can a 14 year old have any chance of having that type of surgery.,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it certainly is possible to reduce the bridge of your nose to make it more streamlined but generally we do not recommend surgery at the age of 14. This is because your nose is not fully developed at this age and most surgeons tend to prefer to wait until you are 18 to perform the rhinoplasty otherwise you can damage the growth areas to your nose. It might however be worthwhile considering a consultation with a surgeon to discuss pros and cons of rhinoplasty when you are near the age of 18.
