A. Thank you for your inquiry. Septal deviation is the term used for describing a distortion of the partition that separates the nostrils inside, the nasal septum. It can be associated with as straight or deviated appearance of the nasal bridge. The main functional concern is related to breathing problems through the nose. When the nose shape is straight, the surgery only aim to improve the airway, and may consist of straightening the septum or just removing some cartilage from its central part. When the nose is also deviated, it may be necessary to reshape the nose also for a successful correction for the septum.

It’s better to see what the final result is going to be before having treatment rather than treating an interim problem. I do recommend taking 2 weeks off work for this type of surgery, and approximately 3 weeks for return to exercise. At approximately 10 days, most of the bruising is gone, and socialising becomes possible, with limited inconvenience.
