Hello, My 13 year old daugher was elbowed in the face

Q. Hello, My 13 year old daugher was elbowed in the face 9 days ago and is now left with the tip of her nose bent to one side. It is not extreme but can easily ben seen. I have been to our local hosptal and the ENT surgeon has said he will operate . I am concerned that as she is only 13 this may affect her growth- is it normal to operate at this age and hat will the surgery usually entail- thank you for taking the time to reply,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, if your daughter had a recent trauma to her nose it’s probably best to as you have done preferred to be seen by ENT surgeon in the local hospital. Generally, nose surgery at this stage is aimed at straightening the broken structures in the nose and will not affect her long term growth in the future. ENT surgeons do specialize in this area and I think would be ideal people to discuss the best way forward for her. I do wish you the best of luck if your daughter decides to go ahead with treatment. My son is a very keen rugby player and recently received a very bad break on his nose that has left the bridge of the nose slightly flat

Q. My son is a very keen rugby player and recently received a very bad break on his nose that has left the bridge of the nose slightly flat. He did go to hospital after the incident and has been back since but have been told it could be over 12 months before he is able to have surgery on his nose. He is currently 15 years old and realise you would need to see him before going ahead with surgery. How long could I expect it to be to have nose surgery after a consultation and what kind of cost will I be looking at for the whole process.,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. I am sorry to hear about your son’s injury playing rugby. My nephew is also a keen rugby player and recently injured his knee which will need surgery! Tough sport. Your son’s nose almost certainly can be repaired – the question is really about timing, as he would need to be off playing and any contact sports for 3 months. Following his consultation, surgery can be performed about 4 – 6 weeks later depending on availability. My main concern would be to do this in his off season so he would have the maximum recovery time. The costs for surgery are in the region of £5700. An accurate quotation can only be provided following his consultation. Please call Anne or Kirstie on 0845 009 2775 who will be happy to assist you. Best regards.

I am thinking of havin plastic surgery I would like to know the price of these two procedures and if its possible to get them done at the same time

Q. I am thinking of havin plastic surgery I would like to know the price of these two procedures and if its possible to get them done at the same time. Im want my crooked nose straightened and a large hump from the bridge taken off as well. What different finance payments can i make?,

A. Hi there. It’s probably best to see you for a consultation to see how crooked your nose is. It’s hardest to make a nose completely straight but removing a hump is easier. You can ask about finance through the hosital in which I work, which is the Glasgow Nuffield Hospital and my prices are on line at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/cosmetic_surgery_prices.html. If you have two procedures done at one time, then you get a 50% reduction in price on the second procedure.

I just wanted to know what the price range would be for a broken nose like mine

Q. I am a boxer, I just wanted to know what the price range would be for a broken nose like mine and after having the actual surgery done can i still fight and if so, how long would it be before I can start fighting again…thanks,

A. if your nose needs straightening then it can often be improved rather than be made completely straight. You should wait around 6 months before you fight again.

I have broken my nose previously and it has a lump

Q. I have broken my nose previously and it has a lump in the top half of it and i would like to get this removed and reshaped. Would this be availible on the NHS as I am 16 years old, if not how much would it cost? Thanks,

A. Thank you for your email. It is difficult to give an opinion without performing your examination. It is very likely to get it fixed within NHS if your nasal deformity is following an injury (post-traumatic deformity). You may wish to consult your G.P in this regard. With very best wishes,
