Q. I would like to have the area around the tip of my nose reduced please. My nostrils also flare and if possible I would like nostril area narrowed. Most of the advice I have been given so far suggest I will need to have some kind of casting around the nose, is this generally necessary for this kind of surgery?,

 

A. I think it’s possible to just do work around the tip of the nose and not put a cast on, so if you just want tip work then perhaps not. However, the recovery time for complex tip work is just as long as a standard rhinoplasty, and there will be bruising and swelling for several months after the surgery is done.

Q. I recently spoke to a friend that had rhinoplasty to reduce the size of his nose.nad he told me he was still ahving breathing difficulties 6 months after surgery. Is this a normal thing to happen. Q. I am of Spanish decent and woud like to know how do you improve a wide nasal bridge of a typical Hispanic nose please?,

 

A. Thank you for your inquiry. When the wide bridge is associated with a nasal bump, sometimes simple infractures (inward displacement of the nasal bones) may be sufficient. In some instances, wedge removal of bone at the top of the bridge is necessary to allow the bones to come closer to the midline. Finally, neither technique is particularly useful if you are referring to the part of the bridge that is between the eyes. However, that segment rarely needs intervention, but it would need to be a more complex one.

This heightened areas normally caused by underlying bony structure of the nose and steroid injections reduce the soft tissue padding in the area rather than the bone itself. I think if you would like the area reduced the other option would be a rhinoplasty procedure which would reduce the prominence in the area and refine the bridge of your nose region.
