I am 19 years old and am interested in rhinoplasty
Q. Hi I am 19 years old and am interested in rhinoplasty. Firstly, I am a student so the price is terrifying and was wandering whether I would be eligible through the nhs, I obtained a humped nose through injury and my breathing is fairly constricted but not so much so that it hugely affects my health, so what do you think. Secondly, it says that you have to pay for consultation fees via cheque only I don’t have a cheque would cash be ok. Thirdly, what is the long term effect of rhinoplasty, like say after 1-2 years everything seems ok is that you sorted for the rest of your life or is it known that patients suffer complications further down the line as they get older. Thank You Dr Shoaib.,
A. You may be able to get a rhinoplasty on the NHS, but you need to go through your GP and go through the NHS system of assessment, including psychological assessment and assessment of your nose. Depending on who you get, you may have your breathing treated too. You can certainly ask your GP to refer you directly to me and we can take it from there. You can pay your consultation with me either by cash, cheque or card. Long term problems can happen after a rhinoplasty but we now have better understandings of what we should and shouldn’t do at the time of a rhinoplasty so hopefully we can prevent these.
