Would restylane injections be suitable for a dent in nose after previous rhinoplasty surgery?

Q. Would restylane injections be suitable for a dent in nose after previous rhinoplasty surgery? I would rather not have to have any other operations fopr cost and well being purposes but if I can get something done about this I would be very happy indeed. Regards,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. Hyaluronic acid injections can help create a smoother contour after rhinoplasty, and they would usually last for approximately 6 months. Radiesse injections can last up to a year. Although permanent fillers can also be used for the purpose, I would be more worried about that alternative.

How many rhinoplasties on average would you say a surgeon would perform a year to make them experts?

Q. How many rhinoplasties on average would you say a surgeon would perform a year to make them experts?,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. Sadly, your question does not have a simple answer. If numbers were the only measure of quality, you should probably look towards the Far East or for a rhinoplasty expert, is the ratio between number of plastic surgeons and requests for rhinoplasty is far different from the Western countries. Number certainly mean exposure, but it is a matter of devotion and interest in the subject that combines with experience to make expertise. Someone who is really interested in rhinoplasty surgery, can probably achieve consistent high-quality results from something like 30 procedures a year, but I would imagine that a combination of dedication and higher numbers can achieve even better results. Finally, someone who is very busy, may wish to spend less time customising the surgery to your own needs, and sadly the fact that a rhinoplasty result may look good to everyone around you, does not automatically mean you would feel happy.

Im doing some research into finding a surgeon for a rhinoplasty and wonder why some do nasal packing after the op and some dont?

Q. This is more a question than an enquiry at the moment. Im doing some research into finding a surgeon for a rhinoplasty and wonder why some do nasal packing after the op and some dont?,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. Rhinoplasty procedures vary significantly with regards to do amount of work carried out inside the nose. As far as my practice is concerned, I use silicone nasal splints inside the nose rather than nasal packs, and their purpose is to prevent contact between the lateral walls and the nasal septum whilst the swelling is present. This prevents formation of scar tissue between the septum and lateral walls (most frequently with the inferior turbinates) also known as synechiae.

Q. I have what I describe as an upturned nose and I would like to have treatment to soften the turn? What does treatment generally cost and do you charge for a consultation?,

I am due to have revision rhinoplasty with Dr Pros

Q. I am due to have revision rhinoplasty with Dr Pros @ Harley Medical Group in Sept 2010, the things I would like to have improved from my primary surgery would be to achieve a ski-slopped nose, to get rid of a bulbous projecting bridge and tip, I would like definition to the tip, make nose appear thinner and length to be increased. Is there anyway by reading my description above that you could perhaps advise me on the best possible procedure to achieve this look for myself. My primary surgery was to get rid of a hooked nose and I think the surgery performed was closed rhinoplasty. Unfortunately the shape of my new nose appears to have changed considerably since the operation and has left me unhappy with the current shape, I feel that it now looks like a smaller version of my old nose, but perhaps more turned up at the tip, but still prutruding from the bridge and the tip causing quite an un-natural look. I think perhaps the surgeon mis-understood how much change I wanted to achieve from my surgery (due to lack of communication on both our parts) and can’t help but feel if he had performed the open rhinoplasty procedure with incision under nose this may have been avoided and I could have been given the desired shape I had hoped for originally. Please could you give me any advise regarding this and perhaps your personal opinion on what I should now do to make sure I definitely acheive the desired improvements to my nose that I am after? Many thanks,

A. Thank you very a inquiry. It is inappropriate to discuss what appears to be a complex secondary procedure based on the description rather than consultation. I suggest that you organise a longer consultation with your prospective surgeon to go through the points that you would like to achieve and request of some information regarding how these points would be addressed. I would be happy to see you in consultation, but I am afraid that I could only advise you regarding the approach that I would take, which does not necessarily mean it is the only option available.

Im 16 yearsold and when i was little i smashed my nose on my brothers pram

Q. errm Im 16 yearsold and when i was little i smashed my nose on my brothers pram and couldn’t breath properly since then. a couple a months go i smashed my nose 3 more times and on one side of the nose it has gone bigger so this has left a bump on the middle of nose and because of this i can’t breathe properly.now the top of my nose looks at lot bigger then the rest. saw the docotor ( he is totaly rubbish) and said he’s getting a secnd opinion,

A. Repeat injuries to the nose will mean that in the end the bones become both thicker and more distorted. It also leads to damage of the nasal septum, which is crucial to the support of the nose. The end result is usually a boxer nose deformity and poor breathing. If you do sports that make it likely to injure your nose, perhaps you should consider a change before attempting to have the nose repaired, otherwise you would damage it back.

I have slightly big nose with bulged nose tip and slightly deviated bend nose. Please let me know can you correct my nose shape without surgery or slight corrections to perfect.

Q. Doctor I am 24 years old indian from Bucks, UK. I have slightly big nose with bulged nose tip and slightly deviated bend nose. Please let me know can you correct my nose shape without surgery or slight corrections to perfect. regards
,

A. Thank you for your inquiry. I doubt that I would be able to assist with a nonsurgical approach. If you want to clarify possibilities and the limitations of a nonsurgical treatment, it would be possible to meet in consultation and evaluated on a computer stimulation the degree of change achieved.

I want to now about the price of nose reshaping

Q. I want to now about the price of nose reshaping(rhinoplasty) and to ask you if is a problem, to do the plastic surgery for the second time becuase I am not content for the result of the first operation. I have made the first operation 7 year before.,

A. Thank you for your inquiry. Secondary rhinoplasty is a relatively common intervention, either because in the first instance the appearance of the nose has not been adequate, or in some instances when the communication between patient and surgeon leads to confusion. For this reason, at the time of the consultation I favour using computer simulation in order to try and identify accurately the patient’s targets for change. Q. I am interested in a revision rhinoplasty. Can you tell me approximately how much it might cost? Also, do you do them often? I have had two nose jobs 10 year apart and unfortunately my nose tip area is still significantly misshapen now. Thank you,,
