Im thinking of having septorhinoplasty for my breathing difficulties

Q. Im thinking of having septorhinoplasty for my breathing difficulties. my main concern is the shape it will leave my nose and if it will make the breatyhing issue worse. Is it common to have complications for this type of surgery?,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, actually a septorhinoplasty often helps your breathing as the septum itself can cause blockage of the nasal passages. I think it would be worthwhile discussing your concerns fully with your surgeon at your consultation. They will be able to assess the inside of your nose and the nasal passages and give you an opinion as to whether surgery would alter your breathing pattern. Many thanks for your enquiry, I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to go ahead with surgery. Best Wishes, Yours sincerely Prashant Govilkar Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora Clinics

I have a large nose but its not to big i like how it is but my left side of my nostril is a bit wider than my right

Q. Hey. I have a large nose but its not to big i like how it is but my left side of my nostril is a bit wider than my right and on my left nose there is a little tiny bump barely noticable. I was wondering what kind of procedure would i have to go threw would i need surgery? are could it be non-surgical i just want to make my left side look like my right,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. Based on your description, it doesn’t appear to be worth while doing any surgical intervention, as the changes anticipated are very small. In addition, the it is important to appreciate that cosmetic surgery treatments will not yield to provide you with perfect symmetry of the two sides of the nose, since there are too many little differences between our right and left sides. It is always possible to have a consultation that includes computer based imaging and simulation, which can help decide regarding the course of action and the optimal type of treatment. Nonsurgical treatments involve using injectable fillers to build up a stronger contour in areas that are deficient, and would not be a will to reduce any part of the nose.

My nose has been through a lot of stress as it was broken as child

Q. My nose has been through a lot of stress as it was broken as child and fixed twice then a few years after suffered valve collapase. During a visit to the doctors I told him about some breathing issues I had been having and he advise I MAY have a septum which deviates to the left but he cannot be sure as he is not a nose surgeon and suggested me seeing one. My nose is slightly bent and I wondered if more surgery would be a good idea to an already fragile nose. From information I have read the more surgery I have on the nose the more likely the complications after each procedure. Im very concerned about the breathing problem but I am prepared to puit up with it if it means I am not putting my nose in harms way once more. Thanks for any help you can offer. Pamela,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry. I really would suggest that you see a nose surgeon and in fact an ENT surgeon would be the best person to advise you. The ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeons specialize in breathing problems inside the nose and would be able to examine your nose internally to see what is causing the breathing problem. They also have a lot of expertise with reshaping the nose, which may be appropriate in your case. I wish you the best of luck with your consultation. I’m sure they’ll be able to help you decide the best way forward for you. Best Wishes, Yours sincerely Prashant Govilkar Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora Clinics

I want to get my nostrils operated on so they are symmetric as currently one is far bigger than the other

Q. I want to get my nostrils operated on so they are symmetric as currently one is far bigger than the other. Can this be done and can you explain a littl how? Regards Heather,

A. Dear Heather, Thank you very much for your enquiry, you’re right it is possible to reduce and equalize the size of your nostrils and this is normally done by a incision in the crease at the base of the nostrils as they join the cheek. I think it would be worth seeing you in person to discuss the best way forward for you and you can arranged a free consultation by ringing us on 01844-214362 or email a photo of your nose to us at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk, we’ll be happy to give you an opinion as to the best treatment for you. I recently had Rhinoplasty surgery and up one of my nostrils there seems to be a bit of lumpy cartlidge

Q. I recently had Rhinoplasty surgery and up one of my nostrils there seems to be a bit of lumpy cartlidge. Is this normal/part of the healing process because its been approximatly 3 months since the op?,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m sorry you have some lumpiness in your nose really by 3 months already expected that most of the swelling to have gone down and I think that it is unlikely there would be significant improvement in the appearance of the nose from now on. If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your nose I would suggest you schedule a further consultation with the surgeon who performed your surgery to discuss the best way of fixing the area. And your surgeon should be open with you and discuss the options including possible further surgery with you. I hope this has been helpful and I wish you the best of luck with your consultation.
