Q. I have difficulties in breathing more like ” asthma” and am plaining to have a rhinoplasty … the problem is ” i cant breath if i closed my nosed ” like am gettin less oxyen and my heart start pumoin fast …the question is would i be able to breath well and dont have any problems after the waking up of the rhinoplasty? i just wanna know if am candidate to have a rhinoplasty or not … thx in advance,

Thank you very much for your enquiry, you would need to discuss very carefully your breathing with your surgeon as any surgery to the nose can potentially limit your breathing through your nasal air passages. You would need to emphasize to your surgeon that the nasal breathing is important to you and discuss whether this would be affected with surgery. I play rugby and last year i broke my nose, after ten days approximatly i had surgery

Q. I play rugby and last year i broke my nose, after ten days approximatly i had surgery, this was in september the surgery was very nice, no brusises at all, the recovery went very well, but i would like to play rugby again, the doctor told me that now I can play rugby, but the thing is that the tip of my nose is hard, y can move the tip to the sides, but not push it to me, I donÂ´t know if you understand me, but the thing is that i am afraid that if someone hits it it will break again,so when is the tip of the nose getting soft again?, that is the main question,

My nose has been broken and i have had an operation about 7 years ago but it is still bent. i have a hard bone that is slightly bent and the only way i can see this resolved is surgery. could you please email me back with some information on how i go about sorting this out would like to know how much this would cost.,

Q. Next year I plan to have a rhinoplasty to fix several difference characteristics of my nose that I dislike. They are the size of the tip, sixe of the nose, shape size of the nostrils, a bump, the bridge, and the constant redness. I would like to know, is it realistic for me to expect all of these things to be fixed in one surgery?,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. The only part that is never improved by the surgery is the redness, and in fact it can be made worse by the operation because of the interference with blood supply to the skin. The redness of the nose can be improved by intense pulsed light treatments, laser treatments, or if the redness is due to rosacea, dermatology advice should be sought. With regards to the reshaping of the nose, it is possible to evaluate the points you have raised on a computer simulation either on standard photographs or in 3-D. This allows for a more accurate discussion and planning, as well as an evaluation of what is reasonable to expect from a surgical intervention.
