Q. Hello, Could you tell me if you perform a non surgical nose job? I have had this done in the past to lift the tip of my nose slightly, i liked the results, however i dont think the doctor who did it had much practise in this area. i believe there are ways to reduce flaring using botox and then of course using the filler to create projection. i only want subtle results and i dont feel quite ready to consider surgery. could you help? thanks,

Q. Hi there , I have a large nose with a rather big bump which i am really self conscious about. Since my early early teens at high school ive had little confidence and shown to suffer from self esteem . A. Thank you for your enquiry. The general terms, I prefer to carry out the rhinoplasty surgery after the age of 18, when the facial development enters a slower phase of change. During the consultation, I try to evaluate together with the patients what is the type and degree of change that they would like to achieve, and using a computer simulation to elaborate on the details. Q. I have wanted a nose job for as long as I can remember, I have never had any direct bullying from it or anything, apart from the odd comment, its more my insecurity. But I am only just 19, how old would you recommend I be to undergo the procedure, as I realise I might be too young. Thanks.,

 

A. Thank you for your enquiry. I typically advise teenagers to wait until they are at least 18 before they consider having rhinoplasty surgery. Beyond this age, apart from the fact that the nasal development has more or less stabilised, the facial proportions have also entered a slower rate of change.

Q. I feel I already know the answer to this question but on a previous website I was one question was about having cosmetic suergery and the site suggests that in the UK people can have surgey without consent from the age of 16. I was told this was 18 because I am currently waiting to do something about my nose and my parents will niot give me thier permission. This is definatly not correct right??,

 

A. Thank you for your enquiry. To the best of my knowledge, the age of consent for surgery is indeed 16. In my view however, this is too early for rhinoplasty surgery, as your face is still undergoing considerable change. I believe that the fact that your parents are against it for the time being, is actually to your benefit. It does not stop you from exploring the possible changes, but if you refrain from surgery for now, and then re-evaluate your goals in one year and in 2 year’s time, I am convinced that you will find that your targets have changed, and you will be happy that you did not rush to have the operation.

Q. I would like to know if it is advisable to fly for long haul flight within a month of having the nose job operation. I am planning on booking a consultation and having surgery done with the month but then have to go to a friends wedding in September . Im not really concerned on how I will look at the time, but am concerned I may have some complications flying.,

The risks associated with flying after surgery are due to increased risk of deep vein thrombosis, and the risks level out within approximately one month. general recommendations remain the same with regards to inflight stockings, reduced alcohol intake during the flight (dehydration), and mobilising every 1-2 hours.

Q. I have had 2 previous rhinoplasty ops to flatten and straighten a turn-up. I have never been happy with the result. Can a turn-up, ie. a correction to the tip cartilage be achieved without risk after these two ops?,

If indeed it is still possible to do revision surgery at this stage, but I would normally advocate waiting for at least one year from your last operation before contemplating more treatment. Based on that, it was possible to establish a clear plan of action.
