I am female and of Hispanic desent and I have pretty thick skin

Q. I am female and of Hispanic desent and I have pretty thick skin. I had a reduction rhinoplasty around 4 years ago which resulted in a slight fullness just above the tip . As thing have got no better I have decided to now look into revision rhinoplasty. I have consulted 2 doctors and they told me they can help me achieve a more natural nose look but with an open rhinoplasty. I am really concerned about the scar that may be left on my nose. Is there a way that a revision rhinoplasty for my case can be done using the endonasal?,

A. Thank you very much about your enquiry, I think generally the scar from an open rhinoplasty is a very acceptable and it is in a hidden part of the nose where it is not seen. Although the scarring does vary between individual to individual I’ve never seen an unsightly scar in this area. Open-rhinoplasty just give the advantage of better exposure of the structure of the nose which gives the surgeon more freedom to look at all areas and correct the part which most concerns you. My nostril partition can be seen especially when looking from the side

Q. My nostril partition can be seen especially when looking from the side. My Doctor advised me I would be able to get this sorted with surgery but wasent able to go into anymore detail than that. As the surgery will not be done on the NHS I need to find a surgeon myself. Is this procedure something you have any experience with?,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, most specialist surgeons do have experience in the type of surgery you described. It’s very important that you see a plastic surgeon who specializes in nose surgery to give you the best possible result following your operation. If you would like to schedule a consultation with one of our specialist’s nose surgeons please ring us on 01844-214362. Many thanks for your enquiry, we do look forward to meeting you in the near future to discuss the best way forward for you. I would like to have the area around the tip of my nose reduced

Q. I would like to have the area around the tip of my nose reduced please. My nostrils also flare and if possible I would like nostril area narrowed. Most of the advice I have been given so far suggest I will need to have some kind of casting around the nose, is this generally necessary for this kind of surgery?,

A. I think it’s possible to just do work around the tip of the nose and not put a cast on, so if you just want tip work then perhaps not. However, the recovery time for complex tip work is just as long as a standard rhinoplasty, and there will be bruising and swelling for several months after the surgery is done.

When removing a hump from the bridge of a persons nose would the bone have to broken

Q. When removing a hump from the bridge of a persons nose would the bone have to broken or do you just shave it off?,

A. I tend to use a rasp for reducing the bony hump and an external osteotomy with a small osteotome to perform infractures and prevent an open roof deformity.

Hello, I am a youngish 62 and have a very large nose

Q. Hello, I am a youngish 62 and have a very large nose, I have always been conscious of it all my life which has made me quite insecure at times. Now though it seems even larger would I be suitable for a rhinoplasty?,

A. Hi there thank you for your enquiry. I would like to see you to discuss this in more detail. The issue of age and cosmetic surgery continues to come up for discussion. I have had some wonderful results with patients over 60 and they have been life-changing. However, this should only proceed once expectations and complications have been discussed. Please do give Janine or Kim a call on 0845 2600 261 or email help@paulebanwell.com. Cheerio Paul Banwell www.skininstituteuk.com
