I had an otoplasty, rhinoplasty surgery in poland at the end of february this year

Q. I had an otoplasty, rhinoplasty surgery in poland at the end of february this year, I am happy mostly with the results of the surgery… but I thought the tip of my nose was swollen but it doesnt seem to have gone down at all,my nose still projects far too much at the tip, and it looks a little bit ridiculous. it is possible the surgeon didnt think that he needed to do too much to the end of my nose even though I was unhappy with the size and shape of my nostrils also, because my nose to start with was very strong and projected from my face…(imagine patrick stewarts nose) and when we discussed it he reasured my the skin would shrink he said and said he would see what he could do about my wierd nostril dimples. I think he may have just made the tip boxier, and im sure there is only so much you can do with a closed rhinoplasty at one time (i know without pictures you cant really say) I sent a lot of photos prior to flying out but only had a short consultation the day before the surgery in person. I dont think the surgeon made any mistakes because i can breathe much better now when one of my nostrils used to always feel blocked, and i realize that I am still healing.and I also think if id had surgery in the uk i wouldnt have been able to afford both surgeries at the same time and also from before and after pictures I have seen from the uk rhinoplasties tend to be quite conservative and I would really like a small petite nose. I was treated very well at their surgery. my questions are; how do I broach the subject with the surgeon without insulting the surgery or placing blame? and do I need to do this at all if intend on having a revision in the uk this time ? (because this time I dont want the stress of air travel after surgery again) im considering this time to ask to be put asleep because having all those injections in my face and the surgery was fairly unsettling. how long after the operation is appropriate to consider operating again? sometimes the sinus bridge area still aches so must still be healing, its been about 6 months since the surgery and I am absolutely certain I need a secondary surgery. the very idea of having a secondary surgery is a difficult idea to cope with because my mother does not approve of plastic surgery and took my childhood photos down after I had had the surgery in a sort of passive aggressive disowning, and I currently live with her, ive worked very hard for the last 4 months which was quite embarrasing considering, trying not to think about people looking at my profile or knowing i had had surgery and avoiding people I had known before. this time ive only saved up £2,800 odd to fix my nose. So would need to get a family member to be a guarnteer for a loan for the rest. I was trying to think it was just still swollen and was a passable normal nose. now even the thought of going out is scary after seeing some pictures which confirmed my worse fears, it looks ‘done’ and still ‘big’ but now pug, and not attractive at all. so im going to have to pay for and put my self through a second nose job.i am not in fulltime employment now at the moment but cant bare the thought of it until I look more normal so how do i go about organizing all this? what is the correct procedure? I would really appreciate your thoughts on my very wordy and possibly silly troubles, any views about anything I have said are very welcome. thank you for your time,

A. THanks for contacting us Talk to your surgeon in person about your worries. Things obviously take time to settle but you should really discuss these with him. He may well consider revision surgery complimentary if there is a correctable problem agreed by both parties. If this does not work out then please do contact Janine or Kim in the office to arrange a consultation with me Take care Paul banwell 0845 2600 261 help@paulebanwell.com

I am considering getting a nose job to reshape my nose

Q. I am considering getting a nose job to reshape my nose. The only thing that is holding me back at this time is that is that I sing professionally and wondered if this will affect my voice in any way and how long this is likely to occur for post surgery. Thanks for your time. Jean,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. For professional singers and actors I recommend 3 to 4 weeks of recovery. It does depend on how complex the surgery is and indeed the recovery may be somewhat faster. You do have to bear in mind that there is a reported risk for long-term change in the tonality of the voice after rhinoplasty. I have not seen it to be a problem so far, but it is well documented is a risk in the medical literature.

I am interested in the nose surgery, I have already had my nose reshaped about 5 yrs ago

Q. I am interested in the nose surgery, I have already had my nose reshaped about 5 yrs ago however i am wanting the centre narrowed further as it is still thick and big.,

A. Thank you very much for you enquiry, yes it would certainly be possible to perform rhinoplasty to improve the appearance of your nose. I think it would be best to either see you in person or send us a photo which you could email us at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk to discuss the best way forward for you. I think it might be useful looking at our website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk to get more information about this procedure and if you feel you would like to proceed with the consultation please ring us on 01844-214362. Many thanks for your enquiry, we do look forward to meeting you in the near future to discuss the best way forward for you. I have a large nose with a bulbour tip and a kink in the bridge

Q. Dear Dr Banwell, I have a large nose with a bulbour tip and a kink in the bridge. I really want to get these things corrected and also my nostrils. However, I also have a large chin as well and was wondering if it might be possible to have this corrected too so that everything looks in proportion. What is this procedure called and what does it entail? Many thanks, Jess,

A. Hi Jess Thanks for your enquiry. it sounds as though you may need a rhinoplasty and chin reduction. I would be able to make a better assessment when I see you and we can then discuss this in more detail. Please do contact the office on 0845 2600 261 or email help@paulebanwell.com. I am 16 years old but I really hate my nose

Q. Hello. I am 16 years old but I really hate my nose. I think it is very big and manly and due to me breaking my nose twice. I was just wondering if i am old enough for treatment and on an average, how much will it cost?,

A. In people under the age of 18 we need to have a GP referral to do cosmetic surgery. It’s also important to know that your nose grows for the whole of your life so you may well have another operation at some stage in your life. You can ask your GP to write to me at the Glasgow Nuffield Hospital and we can take things from there. Please come with your mother or both your parents.

I think the level of the bridge of my nose is too high and I would like to have the area reduced

Q. I think the level of the bridge of my nose is too high and I would like to have the area reduced. Will steroid injections decrease the height of the bridge?,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m afraid that steroid injections will unlikely to be helpful in reducing the height to the bridge of your nose. This heightened areas normally caused by underlying bony structure of the nose and steroid injections reduce the soft tissue padding in the area rather than the bone itself. I think if you would like the area reduced the other option would be a rhinoplasty procedure which would reduce the prominence in the area and refine the bridge of your nose region. But if you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward please ring us or email us.
