Q. I want to have a nose reduction job done. Will it cost me if my gp writes a letter to the surgeon, as i am a teenager?,

 

A. Thank you for your enquiry. If your GP is willing to support you to have this surgery and your local PCT is willing to fund this privately, then this is very possible. Your GP can advise you if your local NHS Hopsital is able to perform a reduction rhinoplasty, which would mean that you will not pay anything. Q. I have been getting some prices for revision rhinoplasty and noticed it is more the first procedure, why is there such an increase in price for a secondry procedure please?,

 

A. Most secondary rhinoplasties are more complex than primary rhinoplasty procedures, sometimes the operation takes longer in the operating theatre and sometimes the surgeon charges more. Sometimes we have to take grafts from the rib, from cartilages in the ear, and other tissues to rebuild some of the damaged structures, so that’s often why secondary rhinoplasty can be more expensive.

A. Thank you for your inquiry. It depends to a great extent on the shape of the nasal septum, which is the partition between the nostrils. If the septum is overall straight, there can be an asymmetry of the tip of the nose which is more readily correctable with limited surgery. Otherwise, I would advocate an open tip septorhinoplasty to achieve the correction.
