Q. I think the level of the bridge of my nose is too high and I would like to have the area reduced. Will steroid injections decrease the height of the bridge?,

 

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m afraid that steroid injections will unlikely to be helpful in reducing the height to the bridge of your nose. This heightened areas normally caused by underlying bony structure of the nose and steroid injections reduce the soft tissue padding in the area rather than the bone itself. I think if you would like the area reduced the other option would be a rhinoplasty procedure which would reduce the prominence in the area and refine the bridge of your nose region. A. Thank you for your enquiry. What you describe is a reduction rhinoplasty which requires a general anaesthetic usually as a day stay. The operation takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Q. My nose sticks out more than it should. What would reduction rhinoplasty involve to fix it, as far as the procedure is concerned? Would I be put to sleep during the op?,

 

A. Hi – we tend to individualise a rhinoplasty for everyone, so I would tell you what I was planning at a consultation after examining your nose. You certainly are put to sleep during the procedure. The operation takes about an hour, you’re bruised and swollen for a couple of weeks, you wear a plaster on your nose for a week, you have nasal packing in for a day, and the final results are seen in about a year.

A. Hi there. Although I don’t have testimonials (as I’m hardly likely to show you the comments from anyone other than my very happy patients!) I can show you pictures of some of the people who have agreed to let me show you their pictures, but only at a consultation. The people that let me show photos allow me to do so at a consultation and they don’t want me to publish their photos on line or to email other people their photographs. Q. Which type of alar base reduction reduces the width of the nostrils? I have wide nostrils which also flare a little. Do you recommend weir incision, a wedge resection or both? If i were to get both procedures at once under local anesthesia, would the cost be the same as if i were to get, say, weir incision alone? Many thanks.,
