A. Thank you for your enquiry. A septo-rhinoplasty operation addresses both the nasal septum and the external shape of the nose, for improved airway and appearance. I’m afraid I tend to do this surgery after the age of 18, allowing for a more complete development of the face, which helps when determining the general reshaping of the nose. Q. Im looking for treatment for a thin nose on a narrow face. My concern is it won’t look right for my face once its made wider? What treatments do you use to widen a persons nose?,

 

A. Thank you for your enquiry. From description in your question, You seemed to need corrections of small and thin nose on your face. This is a difficult problem to correct and would needs to assess the height and shape and the size of the nose in relation to your face. This would be best done by consulting a plastic surgeon that specializes rhinoplasty. Potentially, one can increase the size of the nose by undertaking an augmentation by rhinoplasty using your own tissues for example bone grafting or this cartilage grafting or prosthetic materials such as silicone schemes or silicone augmentation material. A. Thank you for your inquiry. The answer is that you are looking for a change in shape to trigger a change in body image (non-verbal communication). You are the only one that has the answer, because most likely the others do not think you are angry. The only option I can offer to help clarify the potential benefits of surgery is to have a consultation using 3D imaging and simulation, so that you can check whether a shape change makes you feel the problem is solved.

Q. I have a question about nose tip revision. I recently contected a surgeon in the UK regarding this treatment and he suggested using ear cartilage to make tip smaller. Is this something you have personally done before?,

 

A. did you see this surgeon in person? We commonly use cartilage grafts from a number of sources (including the ear) to remodel and reshape the nasal tip. Remember though that you usually need to take something away to make something smaller. Q. My nose looks really large especially from a profile view because the nasel bone sticks out. Is it possible to shave down the side of the nasal bone. Will this be a very invasive procedure?,

First, I think you need to determine what is the shape that you would like to achieve after the operation, and to this effect I tend to use computer imaging and procedure planning either on standard photographs or in 3-D. Ultimately, the extent of the surgery is less relevant than achieving the results that you feel happy with.

I charge £100 for a consultation at my clinic and the cost of rhinoplasty is around £3900 or thereabouts. I have fixed cost surgery for rhinoplasty, and I’m having an open evening on November 24th. Q. Hi, I had rhinoplasty done a few years ago to reshape my nose. Since then it been fine except i been unhappy with the breathing difficulties i suffer in the right nostril. I also need some corrections at the tip to rise the left tip to level with the right tip as the left seems collapsed. Would SeptoRhinoplasty be the right procedure, would it be expensive and do i require an overnight stay?,

 

A. Hi there. We can sometimes improve things after a rhinoplasty with a revision rhinoplasty and with your enquiry it seems there are a few issues for us to consider. You have breathing problems, so I need to see your septum. If this is normal then we have a couple of things we can consider doing as well. For the tip, this is sometimes the hardest thing to improve, but we sometimes want to have a close look at the tip and either reshape, reposition or add/subtract cartilage to the tip to help with things. Costs for revision rhinoplasty are usually around £3700 and we would want to keep you in hospital until you’re well enough to go home. Sometimes that’s an overnight stay – we just don’t want you to go home and then come back in again immediately, so we do like to check things are fine before you’re discharged. Q. I would like to have my nose reshaped as I feel it too big and wide. The problem is I suffer from somewhat violent allergies and sneeze alot evenm when ive had my medication pills and my nose becomes very runny. Could this be a problem after having surgery?,

I would suggest that you involve your family with your decision, and with the planning for the changes. Although you are the only one that can judge what is good or bad for yourself in this matter, support from people around you is very helpful. I normally advise using computer imaging and planning for the intervention, to bring clarity to the decision and help establish an accurate plan for the changes. Whilst it is true that the outcome of surgery will never be identical to the digital blueprint, starting the changes with a clear plan makes me feel much more comfortable then relying on simple discussions.

Q. Is it possible to have complications from injecting a hyluronic acid filler in the nose to change its shape?,

 

A. hi there. HA injections into the nose are relatively safe when performed by someone who does this regularly, so I would ask your practitioner whether this is something they do often. Like with all treatments, though, there are risks and they include rare things like infection, bruising, swelling, lumpiness, being able to feel the filler, migration of the fillers, overcorrection, undercorrection, asymmetry, and so on
