Q. 3 years ago i was beaten up by a group of men with my face being damaged due to them kicking me in the face(nice people..) my face was badly bruised and cut and my nose had shifted to one side of my face. after the cuts and swelling went down i went to the hospital so a nurse could realign my nose. all seemed well for the first couple of weeks until i had a photo taken and my nose had a very obvious curve to it. (its not obvious in person) baring in mind at the time i was working full time as a model. this curve in my nose had seriously affected that career but i do not have the funds for cosmetic surgery. i can also only breath in through my right nostril. how much would it cost to realign my nose and what would the expected recovery time be?,
A. If you are seeking to change the appearance of your nose you would have to pay privately for this. Pleas email help@paulebanwell.com for more information on prices. If you JUST want to correct the breathing problem through you right nostril you may be eligible for NHS treatment but this would not correct the appearance Hope this helps Cheerio Paul Banwell www.paulebanwell.com

Q. I am extremely interested in having a rhinoplasty, i have now seen a couple of surgeons and do not feel they are the right for me. I have been told i have an severly deviated septum. Could you please suggest about how i should go about finding the right surgeon ? Roughly how many cases do you do, as i very interested in you? Thanking you for your time.,
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it certainly would be possible to schedule an appointment to discuss possible rhinoplasty with you and one of our specialist surgeons could give you advice on whether you need your septums straighted and the pros and cons of this. I think it might be worthwhile having a look at our website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk and if you feel you would like to schedule a free consultation with one of our surgeons please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Q. Just wondering how many nose jobs you have done and whether you have performed them on any middle-eastern patients?,
A. I have done a fair number of nose jobs although I’m not in the position to give you an exact number. I have performed rhinoplasty’s on Middle Eastern patients I would like to say that the results obtained in the Middle East patients are more difficult to appreciate as the result of the increased thickness of the nasal skin which does not outline the alterations made to the underlying bony framework as well as in Caucasian patients.

Q. I wonder if you can help me please. When having septorhinoplasty do they cut on the outside of the nose and does it mean will there be more scarring than a normal rhinoplasty?,
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, normally with a septo-rhinoplasty the incision is on the inside of the nose which is sufficient to access the septum which is the strut which runs along the inside separating the nostrils internally. There is a technique called open-rhinoplasty were an additional incision is made across the skin of the strut of the nose externally and this is used mainly when a complex reshaping of the tip of the nose is required. I think it would be worthwhile having a look at our website http://aurora-clinics.com.uk, you’ll be able to get more information about what’s involved in the procedure and the lighter scarring and recovery period. If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Q. My nose has a very fat tip and it is like a light bulb at the end. would i beabe to get this done non surgically?,
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it does sounds as if you may benefit from a rhinoplasty operation. Your case sounds as if you may need to have building up of the bridge of the nose to give you a more prominent profile and also redefining of the tip of your nose by modifying the cartilages in this area. It is sometimes possible to build-up the bridge of the nose with non-surgical dermal filler treatment but in order to assess whether this would be appropriate for you it would really be best to see you in clinic in person for one of our surgeons to assess the region. If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Many thanks for your enquiry, we do look forward to meeting you in the near future should you decide to schedule a free consultation. Q. Does taking tegretol cause swelling when you have had nose surgery? I take it nearly everyday and I am a bit worried about the outcome if I decide to have a nose job.,
A. Thank you for your enquiry. I have not seen any specific reference regarding side-effect of Tegretol that involves swelling in the skin. It is however possible for Tegretol to interact with other medicines that are given at the time of surgery and enhance the potential side-effects of the medication. In a situation like this, I think the most important part would be to communicate with your GP and neurologist and explain what would be the medication is likely to be given during the surgery and in the recovery period, so that they can highlight if they have concerns regarding possible interactions.

Q. This is more a question than an enquiry at the moment. Im doing some research into finding a surgeon for a rhinoplasty and wonder why some do nasal packing after the op and some dont?,
A. Thank you for your enquiry. Rhinoplasty procedures vary significantly with regards to do amount of work carried out inside the nose. As far as my practice is concerned, I use silicone nasal splints inside the nose rather than nasal packs, and their purpose is to prevent contact between the lateral walls and the nasal septum whilst the swelling is present. This prevents formation of scar tissue between the septum and lateral walls (most frequently with the inferior turbinates) also known as synechiae.
