I am extremely interested in having a rhinoplasty,

Q. I am extremely interested in having a rhinoplasty, i have now seen a couple of surgeons and do not feel they are the right for me. I have been told i have an severly deviated septum. Could you please suggest about how i should go about finding the right surgeon ? Roughly how many cases do you do, as i very interested in you? Thanking you for your time.,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it certainly would be possible to schedule an appointment to discuss possible rhinoplasty with you and one of our specialist surgeons could give you advice on whether you need your septums straighted and the pros and cons of this. I think it might be worthwhile having a look at our website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk and if you feel you would like to schedule a free consultation with one of our surgeons please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Just wondering how many nose jobs you have done and whether you have performed them on any middle-eastern patients?

Q. Just wondering how many nose jobs you have done and whether you have performed them on any middle-eastern patients?,

A. I have done a fair number of nose jobs although I’m not in the position to give you an exact number. I have performed rhinoplasty’s on Middle Eastern patients I would like to say that the results obtained in the Middle East patients are more difficult to appreciate as the result of the increased thickness of the nasal skin which does not outline the alterations made to the underlying bony framework as well as in Caucasian patients.

Im a smoker who is seeking nose surgery

Q. Im a smoker who is seeking nose surgery. I understand that smoking will not help in anyway at all but what complications can you have from cigarettes when your having nose surgery?,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. With open tip rhinoplasty surgery, the blood supply to the tip of the nose decreases after the operation, and takes some time to recover. Similarly, the nasal septum may be weakened by the surgery, if cartilage from the septum is used for reinforcements in other parts of the nose. In principle, because smoking reduces delivery of oxygen to tissues, there is a higher risk the of damage to the skin of the tip of the nose, or of a septal perforation occurring.

I am a police officer and would like Rhinoplasty.

Q. I am a police officer and would like Rhinoplasty. The most time i could get off work for recovery is 3 weeks. Due to the nature of my job it is possible that my nose would get knocked or that i would have to physically exert myself on returing to work. What would be the risks of this?,

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry. It is possible to perform a rhinoplasty procedure and have you back to work within 3 weeks. Normally, the supportive plaster on your nose will be in place for a week following the surgery and in the following 2 weeks, the swelling and bruising would be mostly settled. It would be important to protect your nose while it is still relatively fragile from any trauma. It is possible that if you did sustain a blow to your nose within a few months of that surgery, the effects of the surgery could be altered. I wonder if will be possible for you to return to slightly lighter duties for a month or so once you return to work. I hope information has been useful and please feel free to have a look on our website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk if you would like any more information about rhinoplasty surgery. If following this you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you, please ring us on 01844-214362 or email us at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk. I believe i disperately need a nose job but I am terrified of the pain after the operation

Q. I believe i disperately need a nose job but I am terrified of the pain after the operation, roughly how long is the operation and how long is the recovery? thanks,

A. Thank you for your enquiry. Normally, there is not much pain following a rhinoplasty – most of my patient take painkillers for only 1 or 2 days. You should be able to return to work / social activities after 10 to 14 days. Your nose is well healed by about 6 weeks but goes on improving for up to 9 months. Please call Anne or Kirstie on 0845 009 2775 or email kirstie@lbps.co.uk who will be happy to arrange your consultation or provide further information. Best regards

I went abroad for a nose job and the surgeon has taken

Q. I went abroad for a nose job and the surgeon has taken away too much bone as my nose now looks like a pigs nose with flared nostrils and bulbous on the end. I had this done 9 months ago and dont think things are going to improve. I have withdrawn from my friends and split up with boyfriend because of this. I would really like to find somebody who has experience of these kind of things.,

A. I am so sorry this has happened to you. There are things you can do. It sounds like you have had the dorsum or back of your nose over-resected and you can have this augmented with fillers (non permanent) or bone (ribs) or cartilage (ear or septum), but it depends a little on how big the problem is and how much there is missing. The flared nostrils can be made smaller and the bulbous tip can be made more refined. If you do come for a consult, please bring pictures of how you looked like before the operation. I would see Addie Grobbelaar or David Dunaway. best wishes Barbara www.barbarajemec.com

Can you tell me how long will it take for the swelling to fully subside after nose surgery?

Q. Can you tell me how long (approximately of course) will it take for the swelling to fully subside after nose surgery? Thanks Nancy,

A. Hi Nancy. Nose swelling takes about a year to subside after rhinoplasty surgery, and usually I find that people are complaining of a widened nose at the bony part, and a bulbous nose at the tip, for a few months after the operation. The tip of the nose feels quite firm as well for a few months after surgery
