Q. I have had 2 previous rhinoplasty ops to flatten and straighten a turn-up. I have never been happy with the result. Can a turn-up, ie. a correction to the tip cartilage be achieved without risk after these two ops?,
A. Thank you for your inquiry. If indeed it is still possible to do revision surgery at this stage, but I would normally advocate waiting for at least one year from your last operation before contemplating more treatment. It is possible to plan with a computer simulation that type of changes that you would like to achieve, and the clarify the type of surgery necessary to achieve them.

Q. Hi. I am researching rhinopalsty surgeons and wanted to ask a few questions . Do you offer both open and closed? What factors influence technique used. Does the price include any revision surgery if it is deemed a requirement after. What happens if i dont like it and feel revision is needed but you disagree.? Sorry for so many questions and hope to hear soon.,
A. Thank you for your question, yes I offer both open and closed. Which one I choose depends on your nose and what you want to have done. I cover revision surgery for one year, but we both have to agree on it. I am probably a harder critic of my own work than you are, but we have to agree and I have to understand what it is you wish in order to tell you whether I can do it or not. It is far better to have too many, than too few questions!

Q. hello, is there such a thing as a permanent filler? for non surgical nose jobs.,
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, unfortunately we do not recommend any permanent filler for the nose at present. This is because the skin and the structure of the nose actually changes slightly with time and a permanent filler is very difficult to remove and shape the contours of your nose change. As you know there are a number of long lasting temporary fillers which we can use and we’d be delighted to discuss this with you in person if you do decide to schedule a consultation. If you would like to schedule a consultation with one of our specialist surgeons please ring us on 01844-214362. Best Wishes, Yours sincerely Prashant Govilkar Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora Clinics

Q. I suffer from quite severe asthma? Would this affect me having rhinoplasty surgery? If so could you advise why?? Thanks,
A. Thank you for your question. Asthma is a concern during your anaesthetic and therefore if you suffer from severe asthma, it would be good to perform the rhinoplasty when your asthma is best controlled. For example if your asthma is less severe in the winter, then taht woul dbe the time to do the suregry. So long as the anaesthetist is aware of your asthma, then this can be controlled during the operation and should not prevent you from havimg surgery. Please call Anne or Kirstie on 0845 009 2775 who will be happy to assist you with arranging your consultation to discuss your concerns and the options. Best regards

Q. Would I have to be put to sleep when having nose reduction surgery. I dont do well under anesthetic so I wanted to check and see. Obviously I dont want to be in massive pain either but I was wondering whether you coyuld just numb the area instead. Thanks for your help.,
A. Thank you for your email. I perform rhinoplasty under either only local anaesthetic, or local anaesthetic and sedation or under general anaesthetic. The decision of type of anaesthetic is made depending upon the extent of surgery as well as patient’s choice. With best wishes,

Q. Will it affect me having surgery for a diverted septum if I am taking medication?,
A. Thank you for your email. It appears that you are seeking advice for correction of deviated nasal septum. There are 2 options you need to consider: 1) If you have nasal airway obstruction then you should consider septoplasty or submucoasal resection of nasal septum. 2) If you have deviated nasal septum associated with deviated nasal bridge then you should consider septorhinoplasty. We need to do prenaesthetic assessment to check your medical health and current medication. I have following suggestions for you to help you further. : 1) You may send good quality photos for my initial comments. 2) It would be ideal if you arrange a detail consultation with me so that I can examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please surf through the section of rhinoplasty and the photo gallery on our web site www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure.
