Mr. Prashant S Govilkar MBBS, MS, MCh, FRCS, FRCS (Plast), Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgeon
Mr. Prashant Govilkar is a highly qualified and skilled plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgeon. In March 2010, he joined the Aurora Team of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons. He is entered in the General Medical Councils specialist register in plastic surgery. His register number is 4258041. Mr. Govilkar specializes in hand and wrist surgery, as well as breast surgery. He provides comprehensive reconstructive trauma and elective treatments for the hands and wrist and offers cosmetic and reconstructive surgery for the breasts. He also has a special interest in facial cosmetic surgery, microsurgical reconstructive surgery, and post bariatric body contouring surgery (body lift surgery).
Mr. Govilkar also maintains a sound interest in the academic arena. He has written and presented more than 15 papers in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journals that are reviewed by peers. He is also an assessor of the Royal College for postgraduate students in the ICPS curriculum and serves on the Indian Journal of Plastic Surgery’s review panel.
Education and Training
Mr. Govilkar graduated from the Grant Medical College and the J.J. Group of Hospitals in Bombay with a degree in Medicine and Surgery. He then completed training in General Surgery and advanced surgical training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the J.J. Group of Hospitals and the LTMMG Hospitals. These two medical facilities are two of Bombay, India’s largest teaching hospitals. Mr. Govilkar then was awarded the MCh (Plastic Surgery) degree and pursued a training fellowship in microsurgery in Brescia, Italy. Later, he was granted a fellowship for advanced training in microsurgery from the British Association of Plastic Surgeons. He completed this training at the Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow. He then went on to complete specialist training in Hand Surgery and Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction in the United Kingdom. After Mr. Govilkar complete his plastic surgery training in the UK he was granted a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery. Mr. Govilkar was awarded a European Diploma in Hand Surgery by the Federation of European Societies for Hand Surgery. He has also complete specialist training in breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery in the United Kingdom in East Grinstead, and in the United States of America, in Charleston, South Carolina and Cleveland, Ohio.
